Just a quick addition to yesterday's update!

If you pledged using Apple ID, you most likely did not receive your survey emails because Apple creates a private relay email instead of their real one. This is displayed as @privaterelay.appleid.com on your order page. 

If you used Apple ID to back our campaign but have not received a backer survey, which needs to be filled out so we can deliver physical rewards, you can email us at rungraphicnovel.gmail.com from your personal email and we will update the email on Backerkit and re-send your survey.

‼️48-hour notice to fill out Backerkit survey‼️

Dear friends, 

We hope you're well! We’ve sent out the 48-hour notice for those who have already filled out their BackerKit survey, meaning that in 48 hours, orders will be locked, any additional shipment costs will be charge to cards, and everyone who has filled out the survey will be able to receive their digital rewards. 

Physical rewards will be going out next month and should arrive by either late October or sometime in November. 

If you’re missing your Backerkit survey for any reason, please check your Junk folder and if you don't see it there, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].  We’ll send the survey to you as soon as possible.

Please note that if you have NOT completed the survey, you won’t have access to the digital rewards. However, backers who haven’t responded to the survey can still fill their survey out after we lock orders in 48 hours and will then have access to the digital rewards.

BIG NEWS: BackerKit Surveys are coming TUESDAY!

Important reminder for all backers, especially those new to Kickstarter or BackerKit: This is a longer update, but please take a few minutes to read through all of it. We’ve included instructions to make the process as easy as possible. Every backer, regardless of pledge tier, will need to complete their BackerKit survey so we can confirm your order and deliver the rewards to you on time!

Key Dates:

BackerKit Survey Opens: August 18, 2026
BackerKit Survey Closes: September 23, 2026
Additional BackerKit purchases will be charged: September 24, 2026*

*Your original Kickstarter pledge has already been paid for. This charge applies only to any additional add-ons, shipping costs, or pledge-tier upgrades purchased through BackerKit. 

We are looking forward to delivering the BackerKit pledge manager survey! A small number of you may be receiving it today as part of our final test, but most of you will be receiving it throughout the day on August 18, 2026.

You will receive an automated email from [email protected]containing your personal link. Please make sure to add this email address to your contacts and check your spam or promotions folder for the email. If you haven't received your survey by August 20 2026, please send an email to [email protected].

The BackerKit survey is our pledge manager survey. This is where you’ll:

  • Finalize shipping for your pledge rewards 
  • Upgrade your pledge (optional)
  • Purchase additional add-ons you may have missed from the campaign! (optional)

BackerKit Survey Instructions

Once you receive your survey, you will need to complete the following sections of the survey listed below to ensure you receive your rewards.

1. Pledge confirmation
2. Pledge questions
3. Review or purchase additional add-ons
4. Confirm shipping
5. Review and submit your order

Step 1: Pledge Confirmation - When you receive your custom survey link, you will be taken to a page displaying the level you pledged.  If you click on your order YOUR PLEDGE LEVEL (highlighted in blue), you’ll be able to see all the rewards including the add-ons you received during the campaign.

NOTE: if you live in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto or East Lansing, Michigan, you can AVOID the shipping costs by selecting the "local pick-up" option under "Select your country for shipping" and email us at [email protected] to arrange the details. 

Even if shipping is already included in your pledge (for all 200$+ rewards), you can still arrange a local pick up through this option, which will save us the shipping costs. :) 

This is also the section where you will be able to upgrade your pledge if you choose to do so.

WARNING: You will not be able to switch back to your previous pledge level, so take care when exploring that option.

If the information looks good, click on the Get Started Button!

Step 2: Pledge Questions - Next, you will be taken to additional questions that you must answer. Complete the questions to be taken to the add-ons section!

Step 3: Review or purchase additional add-ons - You will be taken to the add-ons page. This will be your last opportunity to purchase these add-ons before they are gone for good! None of the add-ons we've included involve any additional shipping charges. When you’re all set, you will be asked to confirm your order.

Please Note: If you purchased any add-ons during the campaign, those add-ons will automatically be added to your pledge level. You will be asked to confirm those are the correct add-ons.

Step 4: Confirm Shipping - Here is where you’ll be asked to confirm your shipping address.

Please note: If you pledged a digital-level only, you will not have to worry about this step. The digital PDFs—the Digital Wallpaper Set and the Digital version of RUN: THE MAKING OF A GRAPHIC NOVEL—COLLECTOR'S EDITION will arrive through BackerKit as soon as the surveys close. 

If you reward includes the Livestream with the Creative Team, that will take place before the winter holidays, in November of December. Stay tuned for more information about that through your email in the fall.

Step 5: Review and submit your order - This is where you will confirm your order. If you still have shipping costs to pay, or if you have added add-ons to your order or upgraded your pledge, this is where you will finalize your payment. 

As mentioned above, all of the 200$+ rewards already include shipping. For the Collector's Edition (40$) and Marathon Team Edition (80$), we decided to keep the shipping costs simple and make it 10$ Canadian for all backers. That will involve us absorbing some of the shipping costs—and that's okay. :) 

As also mentioned above, if you live in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, or East Lansing, Michigan, you can AVOID the shipping costs by selecting the "local pick-up" option and contacting us at [email protected] to arrange the details. 

Click on the Place My Order button to finish up!

Important: Your original Kickstarter pledge will not be charged again. If you purchase additional items or upgrade your pledge in BackerKit, your card will be charged for those additional items + shipping on September 24. 

Ongoing Support

We are on standby to help with any issues you may have. Please reach out to us at [email protected] for the fastest response time. We will try and get to your response within 2-3 business days.

Here are some common questions backers may have and if you experience one of these issues, please reach out to us as soon as possible.

  • If you have not received your BackerKit email.  
  • Keep in mind, if you used your Apple ID, BackerKit will also be sending an email to you with specific instructions for getting the BackerKit survey.
  • If you don’t see an item you think you should be receiving
  • If you have any questions about getting through the BackerKit survey

Fulfillment Timeline

We are still expecting to deliver your pledge rewards by October or November 2026. As mentioned, the Livestream with the Creative Team will take place in November or December before the winter holidays, and we'll be in touch about the details of that in the fall. 

Communication

We will be back with another announcement before we close the survey to remind you that BackerKit is closing. We'll also provide you with additional information about the campaign.

BackerKit Surveys Coming Next Week!

We’re excited to announce that the BackerKit surveys will be sent next week—mostly likely on Monday, August 17th! Before they go out, we’ll share another update with everything you need to know about completing your survey and confirming your rewards!

Please note: Every backer will need to complete the survey, regardless of what you pledged, so be on the look out next week for the announcement!  

While you're waiting, be sure to add [email protected] to your contacts so you can ensure you're getting the BackerKit email.

Quick word re: payment processing and introduction to Backerkit

Dear Backers,

Well, that's a wrap! Our Kickstarter campaign didn't quite turn back into a pumpkin last night—we will still leave late pledges open for a few weeks. But the campaign is officially done and we well surpassed our goal... because of you! 

Thanks so much again for running with us.

We also wanted to say a quick word about two logistical items: payment processing and our pledge management system, Backerkit. 

Payment processing: currently there are a small handful of pledges marked "errored". This is usually caused by:

  • Incorrect card information or expiry dates
  • Insufficient funds
  • Fraud protection temporarily blocking the transaction

We will reach out to those backers individually to let them know. To resolve this, please contact your bank or update your payment information through Kickstarter.

If Kickstarter is showing an error that prevents your payment from processing, please email [email protected] directly for assistance. 


Backerkit: As some of you may be new to Kickstarter, we also wanted to give a quick overview of what happens next.

You may already have questions about shipping, taxes, address changes, or adding items to your pledge.

This is where BackerKit comes in.

BackerKit is the fulfilment platform we use to manage the final stages of the campaign. Once we are ready, you will receive a survey through BackerKit where you can:

  • Confirm your mailing address
  • Pay taxes and shipping costs (if they are not already included in your reward)
  • Add extra items from the campaign if you wish

These surveys will arrive later in the process—within the next 2-3 months or so, if not sooner—and we’ll continue posting updates between now and then. 

As soon as that is done, we will send out the physical rewards to all backers! 

In the meantime, we will aim to get everyone some of the digital rewards—specifically the digital wallpaper and the PDF of the book—much sooner, within the next month, month and a half max. 

The livestream with the entire creative team will take place sometime in the fall, most likely in November. 

For those of you who have chosen to get in-book cameos or a call from Brad and Dan, we'll be emailing you individually to let you know how all that will unfold as well.
